Merry Christmas from Lekker Bikes! Firstly, we’d like to begin by wishing you readers a very Merry Christmas! At Lekker, we understand that Christmas is more than just a time for gift giving and receiving (such as bicycles!). Rather more importantly, it’s a time to spend with family and with friends, and originally and still for many, to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. Whether you choose to follow faith or not, at Lekker we believe an integral part of Christmas is the opportunity it provides us to be with family and friends and to connect with one another. In this post, we’ll be mentioning a range of summer activities to do throughout the holiday period. Whether you’re from Melbourne or are just visiting, or whether or not you’re in the market for a Vintage Bike or an Electric Bike – read on to hear more about some activities to do over summer as well as all of the latest news in the wonderful world of Lekker Bikes. Summer is, of course, a time to get outside and to enjoy the beautiful weather that comes with it. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Melbourne, there are a wide range of family activities and attractions to visit throughout the city. A great way to travel to and from these attractions (thanks to the weather!), can be by bicycle. Whether it’s a Vintage Bike or an Electric Bike, it doesn’t really matter. What does matter, is the enjoyment that can come from riding. Some of the exciting sites that Melbourne has to offer, are The Melbourne Zoo, Queen Victoria Market, Chinese Museum, ArtVo Trick Art Museum, The Royal Botanic Gardens of Victoria, Eureka Skydeck, The Old Melbourne Gaol, Collingwood Children’s Farm and the State Library of Victoria. Below we’ll go into more detail about some of these!
The Melbourne Zoo is a site not to look over! With over 300 different species from all over the world, the kids will stay busy looking out for each one. Be sure to check out the incredible Butterfly House – warmed to 28 degrees. Kids are free throughout the school holidays as well as on weekends!
Something you may not have been aware of, is, that Melbourne’s Chinatown is the oldest area of continuous Chinese Settlement in the western world – a perfect place to discover Chinese history and culture.
The Eureka Skydeck is the highest public observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere – ahead of the Rialto Tower, and an incredible view to see all around the city of Melbourne.
If you’ve ever heard of the famous bushranger Ned Kelly, the Old Melbourne Gaol may be of interest, as Ned spent some time here.
Lastly, the Collingwood Children’s Farm has been operating for nearly 40 years and is a wonderful place where kids can enjoy farm activities such as milking a cow, feeding the lambs and search for eggs – not to mention the Farm Café on the site.
To all of these sites – why not hop on your Vintage Bike, Ebike or whatever you’re sporting to make the journey fun, and exercise filled.
